Care Guide

IntMarble’s Ultimate UK Guide to Natural Stone Care and Maintenance

Preserve the beauty and extend the life of your natural stone surfaces with our in-depth, UK-specific care guide.

Daily Care and Cleaning:

  • Wipe Down: Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down surfaces.
  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use acidic or abrasive cleaners that can etch or damage the stone.
  • Spills: Clean up any spills immediately to prevent staining.

Weekly Care:

  • Mild Detergent: Use a pH-neutral cleaner for a more thorough clean.
  • Rinse and Dry: Always rinse the surface thoroughly and dry it to prevent water spots.

Periodic Maintenance:

  • Sealing: Depending on the stone type, periodic sealing may be necessary.
  • Polishing: Some stones benefit from occasional polishing to restore their shine.
  • Professional Cleaning: Consider professional cleaning for deep-set stains or restoration.

Addressing Stains and Spills:

  • Immediate Action: The quicker a spill is addressed, the less likely it will stain.
  • Stain Removal: Use a poultice for oil-based or organic stains.

Special Considerations for Different Stone Types:

  • Marble: Sensitive to acids and prone to etching.
  • Granite: Less porous but may still require sealing.
  • Limestone & Travertine: More porous and may require frequent sealing.

Safety Precautions:

  • Read Labels: Always read the labels on any cleaning products to ensure they are suitable for natural stone.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Use gloves and other PPE as needed, especially when handling cleaners or sealers.

🚨 Disclaimer: All care tips are suggestions tailored for the UK market. IntMarble is not responsible for any damage that may occur from the use of this guide. For specific concerns, consult a UK-based natural stone care professional.

Delivery Times:

Deliveries are typically made between 8am and 6pm, and specific time slots cannot be guaranteed. We request our delivery partners to provide a one-hour call-ahead notice if possible. Our delivery service requires a signature upon delivery, and an ID check may be requested.

Pallet Sizes:

For orders exceeding 100kg, pallet delivery is essential for the safe transportation of your tiles. These pallets are generally 'half' or 'full' size and measure approximately:

  • Half size: 70 x 60 cm
  • Full size: 70 x 120 cm

Please note that the maximum load on each pallet is 1000kg. Orders exceeding this weight will arrive on two or more pallets.

Kerbside Delivery:

Our deliveries are made to the kerbside only, as is customary for most pallet deliveries. Delivery drivers are not insured to enter your property, open the pallet, or physically handle the tiles. Since tiles are heavy, with some boxes weighing up to 30kg, we recommend arranging for assistance to promptly move your order into your property.

Accepting Your Delivery:

Ensure that a responsible person is present upon delivery to:

  • Inspect for any damage
  • Verify the presence of all items
  • Sign to accept the delivery

Damages:

In the unfortunate event of damage to your order during transit, please follow these steps within 24 hours of receipt:

  • Sign "DAMAGED" on the delivery note
  • Take photos of all damaged tiles
  • Email us at [Provide Email]

For sustainability reasons, we recommend using damaged tiles for cuts in your project whenever possible. We'll dispatch free replacements or credit you for damaged tiles after reviewing your form and photos.

Access Issues:

Please inform us in advance of any local access issues such as narrow lanes, repair works, or road closures. We'll make alternate arrangements if needed, possibly incurring an extra charge for a smaller vehicle or re-delivery.

Cancelling Your Order:

To cancel your order, contact cs@intmarble.com within two hours of placing it. Orders are dispatched quickly, and redelivery charges may apply if the order has already left our premises.

Changing Your Order:

We can amend quantities, delivery dates, or addresses if you contact us within two hours of placing your order. After this window, redelivery charges may apply.

Late Deliveries:

Occasionally, external factors like traffic or weather may cause delivery delays beyond our control. We'll do our best to notify you of any delays. We recommend not scheduling tradespersons until after your order has been delivered.

Tile Storage:

If you're not ready for immediate tile delivery, we offer free storage in our warehouse for up to two months. For extended storage, a small charge may apply. Contact cs@intmarble.com for details.

Natural Variation - Disclaimer

Unique Character in Each Slab: Understanding Natural Variations at IntMarble

At IntMarble, we specialize in offering an exquisite range of natural stones, each characterized by unique variations that make it an individual work of art. While we go to great lengths to provide accurate imagery and samples, it's crucial to understand that these can't fully encapsulate the natural variations intrinsic to each stone.

Why Does Variation Occur?

Natural stones are Mother Nature's masterpieces. As such, each piece showcases unique aspects such as color variations, diverse veining patterns, and intricate movements. While our categorization methods aim to capture these characteristics, photographs and samples have their limitations.

Before You Install: Crucial Steps to Take

We highly advise that all customers unpack and inspect their stone products prior to installation. This allows you to fully grasp the unique features of each piece and ensures that they align with your design expectations.

Disclaimer

It's essential to recognize that the natural variations you'll encounter in our stone products are not flaws. Rather, they are what make each piece distinct and extraordinarily beautiful. Our return and exchange policies are designed with this natural uniqueness in mind, so please review them carefully prior to your purchase.

Your Satisfaction Is Our Mission

Customer satisfaction ranks high on our list of priorities. If you have any queries or concerns regarding the natural stone you've acquired, our customer service team is just a call or email away. We're here to guide you at each step—right from selection to the final installation.
